FIRE 2008
A Call to Artists
The Kennedy Heights Arts Center is delighted to announce a call to all interested artists to submit their work for an exhibition fully dedicated to artwork based on the theme of “FIRE”. This exhibition is our second in the series of our earths’ elements – Aqua 2007 was our first in this series centered on the beatiful theme of water.
The interpretation of this theme can be broad, diverse and imaginative in scope. We are excited to exhibit art inspired or created around the theme of fire. The exhibition will include art forms in a variety of different media, including but not limited to, sculpture, photography, paintings, pottery, glass and other forms of expression.
Artists aged 18 years or older are eligible to respond to this specific call.
The exhibition will be structured as follows:
- Main exhibition in the five gallery spaces on the first floor of the Arts Center
FIRE will be featured at the Kennedy Heights Arts Center
from June 21st to July 19th, 2008.
An Opening Evening Reception will be hosted on Saturday June 21st from 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. with complimentary refreshments and entertainment. Artists are strongly encouraged to participate in this opening event.
All work must be insured, ready to hang for display and must be available for purchase. KHAC takes a 30% commission from all exhibition sales. A non-refundable $35 application fee will be required from each artist accepted into the exhibition, to cover administration and installation costs.

Any early submission of work which is accepted into the exhibition will be eligible for consideration for use in the marketing and communication materials that will be developed for this exhibition. The deadline for early submission is Saturday May 24, 2008.
All work that is accepted into the exhibition will need to be delivered to KHAC on Saturday,
June 14th, 2007 between 10:00a.m. and 4:00p.m. together with the $35 application fee and an artwork registration form available at www.kennedyarts.com. The form clearly specifies that an updated biography and statement for this exhibition (each 2-3 paragraphs) will be required during drop-off.
NOTE: The exhibition Curator has final authority regarding acceptance of all work into the exhibition and its placement within the gallery space at KHAC. The Curator will endeavor to inform all artists of final decisions regarding placement of accepted work but reserves the right to make any last minute changes to the exhibition and placement of work to ensure maximum artistic impact. This may result in changes being made which may not be communicated to the artist prior to the opening of the show.

Artwork will only be accepted if the following criteria are met:
1. Exhibition application form (download from www.kennedyarts.com)
2. $35 application fee
3. Updated biography (2-3 paragraphs only)
4. Statement from artist regarding this exhibition theme and their work
(2-3 paragraphs only)
