The Kennedy Heights Arts Center was established by local residents in 2003. When developers threatened to demolish the historic Kennedy Mansion, built in 1875 by Lewis Kennedy, the founder and first Mayor of Kennedy Heights, a group of citizens organized to save it. The City of Cincinnati contributed a $50,000 grant for acquisition and 40 neighborhood residents pledged money in personal Certificates of Deposit to secure the mortgage. Since that time, hundreds of volunteers have worked to transform the distressed 21-room historic mansion and 2.3 acre grounds into a thriving nonprofit community arts center.
The mission of Kennedy Heights Arts Center is to enhance the life of the surrounding communities through the arts. The Arts Center provides affordable arts programming for children and adults, art exhibitions in our beautifully restored galleries, and community-building events for residents of Kennedy Heights, Pleasant Ridge, Silverton, Amberly Village and Columbia Township. While this is our target area, residents throughout the Greater Cincinnati region are welcome to participate as well.
